Reading Upwards

Join us for Reading Upwards: A book group about living, meaning, and belonging.

We meet the third Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. both in person in the Aldrich Room and by Zoom. You don’t have to read the entire book to attend! Spend some time with it, see what speaks to you and what doesn’t, and come share your thoughts. Or just stop by to check it out.

Our book for May will be How to Live a Good Life: A Guide to Choosing Your Personal Philosophy, a book of essays by 15 philosophers edited by Massimo Pigliucci.

“This thought-provoking, wide-ranging collection brings together essays by fifteen leading philosophers reflecting on what it means to live according to a philosophy of life. From Eastern philosophies (Daoism, Confucianism, and Buddhism) and classical Western philosophies (such as Aristotelianism and Stoicism), to the four major religions, as well as contemporary philosophies (such as existentialism and effective altruism), each contributor offers a lively, personal account of how they find meaning in the practice of their chosen philosophical tradition.”

Books can be checked out by any Upper Valley resident.  For more information, email Jared Jenisch at jared.jenisch@thehowe.org.
