Join us at Howe Library for Poetry Book Club; a relaxed, welcoming space to enjoy poems together and share what they spark in you. Each month we’ll read a selection of poems from a chosen book and then gather to chat about favorite lines, themes, and impressions.

Wade in the Water
by Ted Kooser
In Wade in the Water, Tracy K. Smith crafts a moving and deeply thoughtful collection that explores history, race, grief, and the enduring search for hope. Blending personal reflection with historical voices and documents, Smith’s poems are lyrical, accessible, and emotionally resonant, inviting readers to consider both the pain and resilience woven through American life. The collection’s meditative tone and vivid imagery make it a rewarding and memorable read for both longtime poetry lovers and those newer to contemporary poetry.
