First Sunday Shakespeare
Do you miss the theater? Love language? Enjoy the thought of communing with others around great works of art? Join us for First Sunday Shakespeare! We’ll meet by Zoom every month, distribute parts, and read our way through Shakespeare’s plays out loud together. All are welcome! No prior experience or participation is required. This will be a comfortable environment as we stumble joyously together through magnificent prose and some ripping good stories--to say nothing of traversing the heights and depths of the human experience. It's great fun!
Here's how the program works: We’ll meet, randomly distribute parts, and then dive right in and read the play together. It usually takes two months to read a play, but some of the longer ones take three months. People enjoy the experience more when they know the story--if you aren't familiar with it, it might help to read a summary or watch a movie.
If you aren't able to get a copy of the play from your local library, it can be found online in many places. You can view it from whatever device you’re using to Zoom on, or on a second device that you have at hand. I recommend that you try several sites to see which works best for you in terms of readability, etc. A few possibilities are:
Join us on the first Sunday of every month at 6:30 pm by Zoom, or the Monday after at 6:30 either by Zoom or in person at the library.
