When we think about books that we love, almost always the first thing that comes to mind is the hero of the story, the protagonist. That’s because in the best books, the protagonist – not the plot -- is the story. In this workshop, we’ll do our best to discover some of the techniques authors use to create characters that seem so real we come to think of them as people we’ve known all our lives. Participants should come prepared to write. (A little imagination, a lot of good will, and a sense of humor are also helpful.)
