When you sit down to start a brand-new piece of writing—or noodle around with a piece you’re stuck on—it can help to give yourself a little deadline. In this workshop, we’ll generate lots and lots of words/scenes/ideas with timed writing prompts. A prompt, sometimes called a freewrite, is a great way to experiment with voice and genre because it feels like it “doesn’t count.” Sometimes prompts can take you somewhere you totally don’t expect—right into the next story or poem or project. We’ll try a few fun and totally different types of prompts to kickstart your inspiration and imagination. Those who are interested can share their works-in-progress. Come be creative!
